Abstract
Patch tests were conducted on fifty human volunteers anording to the method of Shelanski and Shelanski (Proceedings of the Toilet Goods Association, Number 19, May 1953). Gauze pads one square inch in area were wetted with one-half ce of the test material and applied to the skin of fifty volunteer subjects for twenty-four hours. Readings were taken at the end of the twenty-four hour period and the sites were rested for an additional twenty-four hour period. Patches were reapplied and read again after twenty-four hours. Fifteen such applications were used. A two week rest period elapsed after which a final challenge appli- cation was applied again for a twenty-four hour period. The site of contact of the fourteen applications were on the back. The fifteenth application was made on the arms.
