Abstract
Section 301(h) of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA, or Superfund), as amended by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) of 1986, requires the Agency to report annually on response activities and accomplishments, and to compare remedial and enforcement projects with those undertaken in previous fiscal years. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), at the end of fiscal year 1990 (FY90), was well on its way toward intensifying the Superfund program. Its accomplishments indicate the Agency's accelerated success in implementing the Superfund program. The Agency aggressively seeks potentially responsible party (PRP) involvement at every site where PRPs are identified. The Report contains information Congress specifically requested in Section 301(h)(1), including an abstract of each Record of Decision (ROD) that was signed in FY90; a report on the status of remedial actions, including enforcement activity in progress at the end of the fiscal year; and an evaluation of newly developed feasible and achievable treatment technologies; and a description of minority firm participation in Superfund contracts and efforts to encourage such participation.
