Abstract
Hillside Spring has a long history of intermittent bacterial contamination. The request for assistance stated that the service was interested in developing this spring for drinking water supply for use by the visiting public. The objective of this study was to determine if the water was of adequate bacteriological quality to meet the U.S. Public Health Service Drinking Water Standards as published in 1962. During the wet period the contamination, as indicated by both fecal coliform and fecal streptococci, was from the avian and mammalian species that are natural to the area.
