| Abstract |
The guidance manual supports 40 CFR Parts 264 & 265 Subpart G (Closure-Post-Closure regulations) and Subpart H (Cost Estimating Rules). The manual is to be used to help regulatory officials implement the closure and post-closure care regulations and to help hazardous waste facility owners and operators prepare closure plans and cost estimates which satisfy these regulations. Specifically, this manual does the following: clarifies the intent and scope of the closure and post-closure plan and cost estimate regulatory requirements, provides examples of the types of information that should be included in closure and post-closure plans and cost estimates, covers site-specific factors that may affect closure and post-closure care activities, and provides cost and post-closure plan checklists to aid in preparing and reviewing plans. The guidance supports requirements which apply to interim status and permitted hazardous waste facilities. Also included are closure timeliness, discussions of technical criteria and site-specific factors relevant to evaluating the length of the post-closure care period, and closure and post-closure plan checklists for most types of treatment, storage, or disposal units. |
