Abstract
This report summarizes annual estimates of total consumption of major fuels such as coal, fuel oil, natural gas, gasoline, and diesel fuels. Estimates of the consumption of a number of other comparatively minor fuels are also included. The data are distributed according to major categories of air pollutant emissions sources and are reported for the nation as a whole and for individual states, territories, and the District of Columbia. The data compilations are obtained from the U.S. EPA's National Emissions Data System (NEDS). Portions of the NEDS data are reported to EPA by state agencies under the provision of Section 110 of the Clean Air Act and EPA Regulations, Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 51.321. The NEDS is a component of the comprehensive EPA air data information system, the Aerometric and Emissions Reporting System (AEROS). AEROS is managed by the National Air Data Branch (NADB, Monitoring and Data Analysis Division, Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, at Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
