Abstract
An Environmental Management System (EMS) is an organizational tool composed of planning, implementation, checking, and management review elements that a facility uses to ensure that it meets its environmental performance goals. It does so while taking into consideration its legal and other requirements, its significant environmental aspects, its technological options and its financial, operational, and business requirements, and the views of interested parties. This EMS template for the Die Casting Industry has been assembled from the best and most recent guidance, examples, tools, and forms included in several U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-sponsored EMS source documents. It also reflects an EMS that is consistent with the emphasis of EPA's National Environmental Performance Track Program on sustained compliance, preventing pollution, continuous improvement in environmental performance, and sharing information with the community.
