"Research Report 157" Includes bibliographical references. Research Report 157 presents two studies funded by the Health Effects Institute. This report contains three main elements. The HEI statement, prepared by staff at HEI, is a brief, nontechnical summary of the two studies and their findings. The investigators' reports on the two studies describe the scientific background, aims, methods, results, and conclusions. The critique is prepared by members of the Health Review Committee with the assistance of HEI staff; it places the study in broader scientific context, points out their strengths and weaknesses, and discusses remaining uncertainties and implications of the findings for public health and future research.
