Abstract

The report describes methods for water and wastewater sample collection and processing for the Ames Salmonella mutagenicity assay. Guidelines are provided for sampling equipment, composite sample collection, storage, and handling; sample filtration and extraction and concentration of organic compounds in samples; and the conduct of Ames tests with sample extracts and with samples prior to extraction.
