Abstract
Throughout the 1970s, there was an ongoing scientific and policy debate about the effect of sulfur deposition (popular referred to as acid rain) on ecological resources in the United States. The National Acid Precipitation Assessment Program (NAPAP) was created as a response to this debate. The article discusses some twelve points for scientists participating in this program.
