Abstract
This document addresses whether pesticide products containing the active ingredient, lindane, are eligible for reregistration under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and whether existing tolerance for residues of lindane in food and feed may be reassured under the provisions of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA). This RED document for lindane presents the Agency's revised human health and ecological risk assessments; the tolerance reassessment; and the RED for lindane. This document consists of five sections. Section 1 contains the regulatory authority and framework for deregistration/tolerance reassessment. Section II provides a profile of the use and usage of the chemical. Section III gives an overview of the revised human health and environmental effects risk assessments. Section IV presents the Agency's reregistration eligibility and risk management decisions. Section V identifies label changes necessary to implement the risk mitigation measures. Finally, among the Appendices is a description of the revised use patterns, generic and product-specific Data Call-In (DCI) information.
