Abstract
Picloram (4-amino-3,5,6-trichloropicolinic acid) is a widely used herbicide available in a number of formulations under the trade name Tordon. Almost no information was found in the available literature regarding the effects of picloram on humans. Picloram is poorly absorbed through human skin, and dermal application does not produce sensitization. The mechanism of picloram toxicity in animals has not been investigated. Its herbicidal effectiveness is a consequence of its auxin-like activity, which causes abnormal plant growth and development. In animals, no clear synergistic interactions of picloram with other chemicals have been observed.
