Abstract
A generailized mathematical technique is developed to calculate the overall collection efficiency of particulate control devices. Equipment operating parameters and the size distribution of the particles in the inlet gas stream are used in the calculation. The technique is successively applied to efficiency calculations for settling chambers, cyclones, venturi scrubbers, and electrostatic precipitators. Extension of this mathematical method is made to encompass control devices operated in series. Specific examples are also included to illustrate the technique when it is applied to single and multiple devices. (Author)
