Abstract | The report is the second of two papers prepared for the United States Environment Protection Agency Technology Transfer Program on Land Treatment of Municipal Wastewater effluents. Land treatment or land application is the treatment of wastewater by using plant cover, soil surface, soil profile, and geologic materials to remove certain wastewater pollutants. The report discusses the objectives of land application processes, preapplication treatment, land suitability, selection of the land application process, distribution techniques, climatic factors, storage, surface runoff control, public health considerations, and monitoring requirements. |
