Abstract
The document describes recommended procedures for sampling and analysis, for eventual use by source testing contractors, in support of the environmental assessment of fluidized-bed combustion (FBC) technology. The phased strategy involves two distinct levels of sampling and analysis. The document addresses proposed generic units and corresponding case study units for the following process configurations: (I) Atmospheric FBC of coal; (II) Pressurized, combined-cycle FBC of coal; (III) Pressurized, combined-cycle FBC of coal (adiabatic combustor); and (IV) Chemically active fluid bed (CAFB) gasification of residual oil. It includes a compendium of method options, describing the sampling and analytical state-of-the-art.
