Abstract
This study investigates the economic impacts of amending Rule 408, Chapter III, of the 'Rules and Regulations' of the Illinois Pollution Control Board (1976). Illinois Senate Bill 805 requires consideration of the potential economic impacts of a proposed change in a pollution control regulation prior to adoption of the amendment. This proposed amendment would alter the current 15 mg/l standard for total oil discharged from point sources. Three alternative scenarios were designated by the Illinois Institute of Environmental Quality for economic evaluation.
