| Abstract |
This report was prepared as part of the Ohio River Basin Energy Study (ORBES), a multi-disciplinary research program supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Sharing techniques are used to determine the gross product of the six ORBES states and ORBES-region state shares. The region consists of all of Kentucky, most of West Virginia, substantial parts of Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, and southwestern Pennsylvania. The following information is reported: (1) Baseline data (1975) on the economic characteristics of the ORBES region relative to the six states and the United States. (2) Estimations of historical gross product growth rates for the ORBES region, the six-state area and the United States, 1960-75. Sectoral growth rates also are calculated for the same areas and time interval. (3) Those sectors in the region experiencing high growth rates compared to the six-state area and the United States, 1960-75. |
