Abstract
Scientists in the Occupational and Resident Exposure Branch (OREB) of the Health Effects Division (HED) of OPP have the responsiblity for estimating actual worker exposure. Agricultural scientists in OPP's Benefits and Economic Analysis Division (BEAD) supply pertinent use information along with estimates of the frequency and duration of each application activity for which an exposure assessment is prepared. The estimated exposure for the required time interval (daily or annually depending on whether the assessment is for an acute or chronic toxicological concern) is given to HED's Toxicology Branch (TB), where it is considered along with the results of the biological effects studies to produce a quantitative risk assessment. The risk assessment is considered in the risk/benefit analysis required for regulatory decisions under FIFRA.
