| Abstract |
EPA has prepared a draft technical guidance manual for wetlands to help states and tribes establish water quality criteria and standards for nutrients in their wetlands. The manual explains how to consider water, vegetation and soil conditions and develop regionally-based numeric nutrient criteria for wetland systems. We are releasing this draft manual to give stakeholders an opportunity to provide scientific views or additional data that might help us improve the document. In releasing this draft manual, we hope to receive scientific views or data in four areas: Are the approaches described in the manual appropriate for assessing biological, ecological and water quality condition of wetland systems; Does the manual reflect the state of the science for this subject; Are the methods and approaches described practical and scientifically defensible; Are there appropriate alternative techniques or methods that are not described in the manual. |
