"Dr. Miranda is an acknowledged pioneer in applying cutting-edge information technologies to develop practical solutions to important environmental health and social justice issues. In addition, she is an outstanding speaker and lecturer with a gift for making complex concepts understandable to diverse audiences. In her presentation, she will discuss how geospatial information is being used to improve the treatment of and prognosis for patients with adult-onset (Type II) diabetes. Dr. Miranda (formerly of Duke University) is a Professor and Dean of the School of Natural Resources and Environment, and Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan.
