Abstract
During July and August of 1994, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) conducted an intensive survey of the Hernderson Creek basin, a sixth order tributary to the Mississippi River. Henderson Creek has a drainage area of approximately 604 square miles within Henderson, Warren, Mercer, and Knox counties. Four stations were sampled on the Henderson Creek main stem and ten sites on major tributaries within the basin. This survey focused on macroinvertebrate communities, fish populations, instream habitat, land use as well as sediment and water chemistry as tools to document the biological and chemical status of the Henderson Creek basin.
