Abstract
The study is a consortium between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (National Risk Management Research Laboratory) and the U.S. Geological Survey (Baltimore and Dover). The objectives of this study are: (1) to develop a geohydrological database for paired agricultural watersheds shown in Figure 1; and, (2) to develop a scaledependent methodology for the assessment of the effectiveness of deep denitrification on the reduction of nitrate discharge to riparian streams. The goal is to provide an adaptable framework with implication on the design of the riparian zones and management of nitrogen in agricultural watersheds.
