Abstract | This paper contains the results of the analysis of blood samples collected from residents of the Love Canal vicinity of Niagara Falls, New York, for residues of certain toxic chemicals. The original list of chemicals reviewed contained a total of 55 chemical compounds, classes of compounds, and metals. The analyses were seen to fall into four categories: (1) Elemental, (2) Volatile Organics, (3) Non-volatile Neutral Organics, and (4) Acidic Organics. Further analyses would be needed to better define the utility of exposure assessment using these chemical measurements because the residue levels encountered by this study were very low. |
