Abstract |
The purpose of this project was to determine particulate emission factors for residual oil-fired boilers and flue-fed incinerators in apartment houses in South Bronx and Upper Manhattan, New York City. Twenty-five boilers were tested ranging in age from new to fifty years old, with maximum burning rates ranging from 14 to 100 gallons of fuel per hours. Twenty-one incinerators were tested with charging rates from 84 to 383 pounds per hour. All installations were tested as found, that is, no adjustment or maintenance other than cleaning the incinerator was performed prior to conducting the tests. Tests were conducted using the particulate sampling train developed by EPA. |
