Abstract |
State implementation plan (SIP) regulations and Federal new source performance standards (NSPS) pertaining to sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions from fuel combustion sources have been compiled and summarized in the report. State regulations which were submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and have been approved as part of the SIP as of December 31, 1988 are included. The source categories to which the regulations presented herein apply are broadly defined as indirect and direct heat exchangers, and primary steam generators (boilers). The report will serve as a quick reference for estimating SO2 emission rates, assessing ranges of SO2 control, and quantifying the relative stringency of emission limits. Users are cautioned, however, to contact the appropriate State and/or local air pollution control agency and EPA Regional Office to verify the specific SO2 emission limit that is applicable to an individual source. |
