The report summarizes certain readily available background information on estuarine conditions and prospects in the Northeast Region (which contains the States of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jesey and Delaware). With the exception of Vermont, all of the States in the Region have estuarine areas. Some information on Pennsylvania is also provided here because of Philadelphia's importance to the Delaware estuary, but the Middle Atlantic Region's report should be consulted for a complete discussion.
