Abstract
The purpose of the study was to determine the need for and value of storage for municipal and industrial water supply and water quality control. The studies cover water storage needs and values during the study periods, usually 50 or 100 years. The present and future needs for water storage for streamflow regulation for quality control are estimated. The present needs are based on uncontrolled streamflows, organic and inorganic concentrations and other miscellaneous factors. Economic projections, water quality, and prospective legitimate water uses are used in estimating future needs for streamflow regulation for quality control. The preceding statements are from water resource reports of studies made in the Four-State area of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.
