Abstract
The report describes the results from a number of short programs designed to further define the capabilities of the methanol lean burn system with regard to pollutant emissions and fuel economy. Testing was conducted using M100 neat methanol exclusively and focused on the effects of: (1) an improved version of the M100 best driveability calibration; (2) the use of a two-catalyst system; (3) increased inertia weight; (4) use of higher aspect ratio tires; (5) cold temperatures. Baseline testing and an air/fuel ratio analysis were performed.
