Abstract
The market for air pollution instrumentation during the decade of the 70's has been determined. The market analysis presented is based on the survey of instrumentation requirements conducted at the federal, state, and local level and on an analysis of current legislation and air pollution control codes. The market was estimated for three areas of measurement instrumentation: ambient level monitoring, stationary source emission measurement, and auto exhaust measurement. This market amounts to nearly one-half billion dollars during the coming decade, some 76% of which represents initial purchases of air pollution measuring equipment. Industry will be the major purchaser of instrumentation accounting for 45% of the market. The market is heavily oriented towards stationary source emission measurement, this area accounting for one-half of the total instrumentation market value. It is shown that the timing is a critical factor in the market with each of the three areas of measurement reaching maturity at different periods during the decade. (Author)
