Abstract
Confidential mixture was tested in an acute oral LD50 study. Four of nine animals gavaged with (confidential mixture) as received, died during the 14 days of observation. All animals were fasted overnight prior to dosing. Two rats died on the first day, one died on the second day, and one died on the sixth day after dosing, The death occurring on the sixth day after dosing was attributed to an inadvertently inflicted fracture of the cezvical vertebra obsezved at necropsy. Inability to move the front paws was noted in two of six surviving animals beginning on the fifth day after dosing. One of these animals was also diagnosed to have a fracture of the cervical vertebra at necropsy. Other signs of toxicity that were noted throughout the study included passiveness (2/10), tremors (3/7) beginning on the first day after dosing, ataxia (5/8), abnormal (abdominal) breathing (3/8), and stained muzzles in numerous animals. Because two animals were diagnosed to have fractured cervical vertebrae, the observed signs of intoxication and death cannot be definetely attributed to the effects of exposure to a single oral dose of (confidential mixture).
