Abstract
Methods of correcting and preventing eutrophic lakes in Maine are comprehensively discussed. Eutrophication was the first conference topic considered. Particular emphasis was placed upon lake fertilization, cultural eutrophication and its causes, land drainage, and wastewater discharge. Generally, the topics were examined by means of panel discussions which solicited questions from the audience. Various techniques for correcting eutrophication to achieve inland lake renewal were discussed. Land use and planning considerations in controlling eutrophication were described. A report concerning lake flushing rates for water quality control was also presented as were methods of sampling lake water quality.
