Abstract
At the request of the Office of Research and Development (ORD), the Environmental Engineering Committee (EEC) of the Science Advisory Board (SAB) reviewed the draft Pollution Prevention Research Strategy. In general, implementation of the strategy is likely to produce results that will improve the Agency's capacity in pollution prevention and reduce risks to human health and the environment. The programs and projects highlighted in the draft strategy are reasonable and largely justifiable. The long-term goals developed for the research strategy are consistent with the mission statement. The strategy could be strengthened by documenting the decision process as well as the product of those decisions, including the translation of long-term goals into specific projects.
