Abstract
The production, distribution, use patterns, and potential for environmental impacts of pesticides are described, with emphasis on 25 important pesticides that were selected by applying a priority rating system to 125 major pesticides. Information on environmental impact potential, wasteful use practices, and alternative methods of pest control are discussed in general and in particular for each of the intensive-study pesticides.
