Abstract
This module outlines the processes involved in metal cleaning, metal finishing, and printed circuit board manufacturing and the potential for waste minimization within each of these activities. It is intended to provide the key concepts necessary to familiarize the inspector with the scope of the metal finishing industry and the search for viable waste minimization options. It describes the two major categories of metal finishing operations, metal cleaning and stripping, and surface treatment and plating. An allied industry, printed circuit boar manufacuring, are also discussed.
