Abstract
This document, upon approval by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), establishes Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for phosphorus and sediments in Loch Raven Reservoir (basin code 02-13-08-05) and for phosphorus in Prettyboy Reservoir (basin code 02-13-08-06). Prettyboy Reservoir and Loch Raven Reservoir (referred to also as the Gunpowder Reservoirs), Use III-P waterbodies (COMAR 26.08.02.08J(4)), were identified on the 303(d) List submitted to EPA by the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) as impaired by nutrients (1996), sediments (1996 Loch Raven), metals (1996), bacteria (2002 Prettyboy), mercury in fish tissue (2002), and impacts to biological communities (2002 & 2004). This document upon approval from EPA, establishes TMDLs for the nutrient and sediment impairments. TMDLs were completed in 2002 for both reservoirs for the mercury listings.
