This volume comprises 56 papers presented at the International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant, held during June 1992 in Monterey, California. During this conference, roughly 300 individuals representing 18 nations participated in a forum on environmental mercury. Sixty platform papers and fifty-two poster papers were presented in sessions dealing with bioaccumulation, methylation, human health, atmospheric cycling, terrestrial cycling, aquatic cycling, analytical chemistry, modeling, mitigation, and economics. It is hoped that the publication of these papers will facilitate the integration and synthesis of biogeochemical, bomedical, ecological, and sociological research.
