Abstract
Larvae of inland silversides (Menidia beryllina) reared on three dietary levels of highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) (low HUFA, medium HUFA, and high HUFA) showed no differences in survival or growth during a 3-week feeding trail and no differences in survival during a salinity stress test at 75%. Inland silversides therefore appear to have dietary needs for (n-3) HUFA that are more like those of freshwater fish than marine fish, even though they are found in marine environments.
