Abstract
The document presents information on emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) from sheet-fed paperboard coating facilities. At present there is no control techniques guideline (CTG) document for the specific process. However, the CTG for VOC emissions from paper coating (EPA-450/2-77-008), which addresses web coating (continuous roll), is considered applicable to a sheet-fed operation. The primary differences may be in the method of feeding the paper product to the process line, the application of coating material, and removing the product from the process line. Much of the information on plant processes, description, emissions, etc., from the sole paperboard coating facility in Shelby in Shelby County is confidential. Therefore, information is presented on the general industry, emissions from paperboard coating facilities, general emission control techniques, and the costs of reducing emissions.
