Abstract
The second national symposium to explore recent developments that may improve the state-of-the-art for monitoring techniques was presented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Environmental Monitoring Systems Laboratory (EMSL), May 4 through May 7, 1982, at the Mission Valley Inn in Raleigh, North Carolina. The symposium is part of a continuing effort to explore recent advances in pollutant monitoring of ambient air and stationary sources. Approximately 300 engineers and scientists from industry, universities, and control agencies attended the meeting. The symposium served as a forum for exchange of ideas and information. The presentations addressed both source emission monitoring and ambient air monitoring. Included were presentations on gaseous organics, particulate pollutants, and personal monitoring. Also presented were findings relative to sampling and analytical methods as well as to a broad spectrum of organic chemicals in outdoor and indoor air. This publication is intended for those interested in air monitoring and who were unable to attend the symposium. This report includes only those papers submitted voluntarily by speakers. An agenda is included listing all the speakers who participated in the symposium.
