Abstract
Several area and personal air samples were taken at various locations throughout the plants, during production of asbestos paper. From his/her earlier review, the writer stated that it would be important to have more industrial hygiene exposure data in the areas where the bailer broke man, beater operator, rewinder and cutter work. The results of our recent testing found the personal air samples taken on individuals in these areas to be well within the existing OSHA exposure limit for asbestos fibers. The current OSHA limit is 2 fibers/cc of air which is based on an 8 hour time waited average exposure limit basis. The OSHA standard also includes a ceiling limit of 5 fibers/cc of air. This is determined as a 15 minute air exposure limit. The highest exposure found was from sample No. 10 which was a personal sampler attached to the bailer-broke man. His concentration was 0.33 fibers/cc, which is well within the existing limit.
