The text box at the bottom outlines the development and use of mathematics in the Old Babylonian period (2000-1600 B.C.) and Seleucid period (c. 300 B.C.), describes their base 60 (sexagesimal) system and notation, and explains in detail the solutions to the problems shown in the columns.
