Gas chromatography and mass spectrometry considerations -- Explanation of format used in the book -- Alphabetic listing of compound -- Compounds listed in order of their retention indices -- Mass spectra and retention indices of TMS derivatives. "To date, high-resolution gas chromatography coupled with low-resolution mass spectrometry (HRGC-MS) has been the most effective and widespread method for investigation of chemical compositions of organic compounds of different origins. The area of application of this technique covers metabolomic profiling, phytochemical and pharmacological investigations, medicinal chemistry, forensic medicine and criminology, food chemistry and cosmetology, chemical ecology and ecotoxicology, as well as environmental chemistry. Each of these fields has a multitude of objects differing in composition and physical-chemical properties. For example, in addition to volatile oils, which consist mainly of volatile terpenoids, the perfumery industry can deal with concrete, absolute, pomade, oleoresins and resinoids containing great numbers of polar and non-volatile compounds, and members of various homologous series. The matrix incorporating target analytes can also be diverse. For instance, research objects in medical chemistry can be blood, urine and other physiological fluids, as well as extracts from various tissues"--
