Abstract
The purpose of this research investigation was to determine the fate and effect of crude oil in the aquatic environment of the coastal Gulf of Mexico. Emphasis was placed on the long-term, low-level chronic effects of oil pollution on the ecosystem. Of the five crudes employed in the investigation, Empire Mix crude was studied most intensively.
