Abstract |
During the summer of 1978 and 1979, the surface currents of the Eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca were mapped with a high frequency radar system. This system measures surface currents over several hundred square kilometers. In this study, the authors have used data from both years to make a composite picture of the tidal flow over an area covered by the radar in all the experiments. In addition, because of the potential impact from an oil leak along the path of a proposed oil pipeline, the authors have simulated a continuous release of a material and computed a trajectory for a no-wind condition. |
