Abstract
The clean-up of waste waters in municipal water supplies is ultimately a separation problem involving the removal of pollutants. Thus there is continual interest in finding new separation methods for potential use in this application. The reported research explored the applicability of three separation processes to water pollution control: Colloid flotation for removal of clay materials; Coagulated ion exchange resin for removal of electrolyte; and Adsorbing colloid flotation for removal of electrolyte again. The report details each of these studies separately. Some of the important factors controlling separation for each method are described and potential applications to waste water treatment field are presented and suggested. (Author)
