Abstract
These examinations were all carried out under 'Blind Reading' conditions, and have been 'decoded' after examinations were complete. The incidence of malformations, visceral and skeletal anomalies does not appear to have been adversely affected by maternal exposure to toluene vapor. There was an increase in the incidence of fetuses with reduced or no ossification of the sternebrae at 1500 and 3000 ppm. These findings would not be unexpected in light of the reduction in general development (assessed by reduced litter and mean fetal weight) seen among these groups.
