Abstract
The Long-Range Research Agenda is prepared in response to the Congressional requirement that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) submit an annual revision of a comprehensive five-year plan for environmental research, development, and demonstration after the President submits his annual budget to the Congress (P.L. 94-475, Section 5, 10/1/76; P.L. 95-155, Section 4, 11/8/87). The annual revision is required to convey the plans for no growth, moderate growth or high growth budget projections and should include an explanation of the relationship between research and existing laws which authorize environmental research, development, and demonstration. The budget projections contained therein assume a 3% increase in the moderate growth scenario and a 6% increase in the high growth scenario. The budget projections are subject to change associated with new Agency priorities and the availability of funds.
