This study highlights the animal feeding operations (AFOs) and concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) of seven states: Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Nebraska, and Oregon. It does not study how the AFO and CAFO laws operate in practice, but covers instead relevant legal provisions as they exist on paper.
