Detailed ecological information is needed for wise management of the Whitewater Creek drainage system. In addition, because the study area includes an unpolluted and essentially natural spring-fed stream and downstream has been variously affected by damming, straightening, farm runoff, domestic sewage and some industrial wastes, information obtained here should have considerable theoretical value, particularly in assessment of human impact on streams. Research completed under this project concerns primarily water chemistry, the larger aquatic plants, fish and invertebrate animals of Bluff and Whitewater Creeks.
