Abstract
Limestone hydrology was studied in the Athens and Elkmont 7 1/2-minute quadrangles, an area of about 117 square miles in north-central Limestone County near the center of the northernmost tier of counties in Alabama. Solution activity is shown to be the major factor causing 'deformation' structures in the northern Highland Rim section of the area. Tectonic structure has been modified by groundwater solution. Basic data in the form of measured geologic sections, and well cutting descriptions are provided. In addition, location orientation and number of joints measured in the area are shown on the geologic and contour maps.
