Abstract
The results of this study indicate that lead emission factor for reentrained dust is approximately 0.03 g per vehicle mile for the 1975-1976 sampling period. That approximation was calculated using the results of this study and the data from other investigations. It is apparent that decreasing the lead content in gasoline will not only decrease the amount of airborne lead emitted from vehicle exhaust, but also will decrease the amount of lead-containing dust reentrained from paved roadways. With the reduction of lead in leaded gasoline and the continued introduction of catalyst equipped vehicles into the vehicle distribution, the lead emission factor for reentrained dust is expected to drop below 0.01 by 1980.
